The Indian
Premier League (IPL) player auction will be held on February 16 in Bangalore.
As if now, there is no clarity on the number of players
in the auction pool because the deadline for franchises to prune the original
list has been deferred to February 4.
In the upcoming auction, India discard Yuvraj Singh,
England discard Kevin Pietersen and wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik along
with South African cricketer Hashim Amla have attracted the highest base price
of Rs 2 crore.
An additional purse of Rs 3 crore will be available to
each franchise over and above the balance remaining from the Rs 60 crore last
year along with the amount generated from the release of players.
The auction would once again be crucial for Delhi
Daredevils, who have released all 13 players after finishing at the bottom of
the points table last year.
Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had
earlier released Yuvraj, who was bought for a whopping 14 crores last year.
The 8th edition of the IPL will kick off on April 16 with
a clash between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai
Indians.
